Dr Andrzej Rys,
Director for heath systems, medical products and innovations,
DG SANCO, European Commission, Bruxelles
I met Krystyna in 1990. It was just few months after start of first democratic government in Poland. We had huge task ahead of us: change managers meeting in heath care system, move from communist party appointed directors to the new generation of heath care managers. It is why I was ask by Polish ministry of health to create completely new education program for them. Krystyna was the Secretary General of French-Polish Foundation when French government proposed to support our project at Jagiallonian University in Krakow, first school of public health in Central-East Europe. Thanks to her innovative ideas and financial support provided by Foundation we were able to establish e.g. twining partnership with National School of Public Health in Rennes (ENSP), program for hospital managers and pharmaceutical inspection, first strategic planning in Polish hospitals (in Sucha Beskidzka Hospital) and program for French graduates in our School. Today and during last 29 years graduates of Krakow School of Public Health are working in Poland and other countries in; public administration on local/ministry level, hospitals, heath care institutions, universities, research institutes and private companies. Thank you Krystyna!
